Team Introduction: Data Platform E-Commerce

As a Data Engineer within the Data Platform E-Commerce team, you will play a crucial role in building, optimizing, and scaling one of the world’s largest data platforms. This is a unique opportunity to gain practical experience across a wide range of systems within the data platform ecosystem. Your contributions will have a direct and significant impact on TikTok’s core products and user base, reaching hundreds of millions globally.

Key Responsibilities – What You’ll Do

• Design and Build Data Transformations: Efficiently and reliably create data transformations for diverse applications, including reporting, growth analysis, and multi-dimensional analysis.
• Implement Scalable Big Data Systems: Design and develop robust, extensible, and scalable big data systems that underpin core products and business operations.
• Establish Engineering Best Practices: Institute solid design principles and best engineering practices, guiding both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
• Ability to commit to working for the full 12-week duration during Summer 2026.
• Demonstrable experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Spark, Metastore, Presto, Flume, Kafka, ClickHouse, Flink, etc.
• Practical experience in performing data analysis, data ingestion, and data integration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with ETL (Extraction, Transformation & Loading) processes and architecting data systems.
• Proficiency in schema design, data modeling, and SQL queries.
• A strong passion for and self-motivation towards technologies in the Big Data area.
• Graduating December 2026 onwards, with the intent to return to your degree program after completing the internship.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Compensation: The hourly rate for this Campus Intern position in the selected city is $45 – $45.

Benefits: Interns enjoy day-one access to a comprehensive benefits package, which may vary depending on the nature of employment and country work location. This includes:

• Paid Holidays: 10 paid holidays per year
• Paid Sick Time: 56 hours if hired in the first half of the year, 40 hours if hired in the second half of the year.
• Housing Allowance: Interns not working 100% remotely may be eligible for a housing allowance.
