Data Architect | ASSYST

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at ASSYST, located remotely in Arlington, VA. ASSYST is seeking a skilled Data Architect to support a key client project, integrating into their Department of Technology Services (DTS) Application Development and Data Management team. This team focuses on building robust ETL scripts for data warehousing and performing critical data management tasks to facilitate data sharing. The Data Architect will serve as a vital interface between DTS and various departments, defining and implementing strategic data initiatives while championing data management best practices.

• Mission: Define and implement strategic data initiatives, championing data management best practices for data warehousing and data sharing.
• Tech Stack: AWS data warehouse, AWS data lake, Docker, Node, Python, dbt, Redshift Datawarehouse, SQL Server, SSIS.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop: Develop secure database solutions for information storage and retrieval, utilizing AWS data warehouse and data lake architecture.
• Modernize: Rewrite existing SSIS packages to a modern framework using Docker, Node, Python, and dbt.
• Plan: Analyze current data packages to plan and develop a comprehensive roadmap for code conversion and modernization.
• Test: Perform meticulous data testing and ensure high standards of data quality.
• Optimize: Analyze the Redshift Datawarehouse and recommend targeted performance improvements.
• Secure: Extend and apply robust security measures for data warehouse usage.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Proven work experience in roles such as Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, or similar, with an in-depth understanding of database structure principles.
• Experience: Extensive experience with cloud technologies, specifically the AWS suite of services including Redshift, demonstrated experience gathering and analyzing system requirements, and prior experience working effectively within a software development team/environment.
• Skills: Proficiency in SQL Server and SSIS, experience writing code in Node and Python, experience with DBT (Data Build Tool), and proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Bonus: Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques and a self-starter with a proactive approach to challenges.
