Job Description: Data Analyst II

The Department of Population Health Science and Policy at Mount Sinai seeks a full-time Data Analyst II to work with Dr. Katharine McCarthy on research projects focusing on adolescence, lifecourse cardiometabolic disease, school policy, and maternal health. This integral role involves collaboration with study investigators (including epidemiologists and NYC Office of School Health researchers) on projects related to preconception cardiometabolic health. Ideal Candidate Profile: The successful candidate will be highly motivated, responsible, and an effective communicator. They should be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and possess a blend of initiative and responsiveness to supervision. Comfort in asking questions, eagerness to learn, and flexibility to adapt to changing tasks are essential.

Responsibilities:

Data Management and Analysis: Engage in data management, cleaning, merging, variable creation, and analysis.
Research Support: Contribute to literature reviews, assist with conference presentations, and manuscript submissions.
Collaboration: Communicate and work effectively with internal and external collaborators, notably the NYC Office of School Health.

Qualifications:

Education: A Master’s degree is preferred in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Social Work, or a related field. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.
Experience: 3+ years of analytics experience, including report development and database application/management, preferably within a large medical center or healthcare environment.
Technical Skills: Strong quantitative skills and proficiency in data analysis tools such as STATA, SAS, or R. Experience with data management, variable creation, data cleaning, and bivariate and multivariable modeling is preferred.
Soft Skills: Highly motivated with meticulous attention to detail; excellent written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; keen interest in developing a research career; ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary setting.
