Job Description
NextGen is offering a mentor-based internship program tailored for aspiring IT and software development enthusiasts. This unique opportunity offers a personalized 1-1 experience, pairing each intern with a seasoned industry professional as their mentor. Through hands-on guidance and individualized attention, interns will delve into real-world projects, gaining invaluable insights, skills, and practical knowledge. The program aims to provide the support and mentorship needed to accelerate growth and kickstart careers in the dynamic world of technology. No prior work history is necessary. We are willing to train the right candidates! Interns will be assigned a full-time mentor and will be embedded in team projects where possible.
Cybersecurity Activities:
• Researching specific standards, technologies, and products
• Reviewing newly published cyber vulnerability reports
• Assisting in the identification and assessment of cybersecurity risks and threats to the organization’s systems and data
• Learning about security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS controls.
• Participating in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing of systems and applications
• Assisting in the implementation and configuration of security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection
• Learning about security technologies such as encryption, identity and access management (IAM), and security information and event management (SIEM) systems
Qualifications:
• US Citizenship required
• Major in computer science, engineering, MIS, or information technology
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
• Thorough understanding of internet research
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Job Details:
• Remote work allowed
• Laptop provided
• Expected hours: 10 per week
• Start date: As Soon As Possible
