Internship Overview and Responsibilities:
This program offers a unique opportunity for highly motivated college students and recent graduates to gain invaluable, firsthand experience in state government operations, coupled with practical on-the-job training. As a Cybersecurity Intern, responsibilities may encompass a variety of critical tasks within the cybersecurity domain:
• Participate in Incident Response: Engage in the investigatory process alongside mission partners, focusing on identifying root causes for security events. This includes evaluating anomalous activity and tuning systems to reduce frequent false positives.
• Support Forensic Analysis: Assist in detailed forensic examinations of various data types, including network packet captures, live memory captures, drive acquisitions, and analysis of malware. This role also involves reviewing logs from diverse security sensors, applications, and operating systems.
• Process Enhancement and Documentation: Contribute to the development, refinement, and comprehensive documentation of operational processes, metrics, and templates to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of security procedures.
• Risk Management Activities: Participate actively in risk management efforts, which involve identifying, tracking, and documenting potential IT and cybersecurity risks. Interns will also support the development of effective mitigation strategies and assist with risk assessments.
