Your Day at Lowe’s

As a Customer Service Associate, your primary role is to welcome customers, assist them in finding the right products and services for their home improvement needs, and ensure all their requirements are met. You will interact with customers throughout the day, helping them select products and occasionally loading merchandise.

While a significant portion of your time will be spent listening to customers, answering questions, and organizing merchandise, your daily responsibilities may vary depending on your assigned department. Customer Service Associates are placed in one of the following departments based on hiring needs and skillsets:

  • Appliances
  • Cabinets
  • Flooring
  • Live Nursery
  • Inside Garden
  • Hardware
  • Tools
  • Millwork
  • Building Materials
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Paint
  • Home Décor
  • Tool Rental
  • Pro Services

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers to Lowe’s, answer questions, and deliver friendly and professional customer service.
  • Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
  • Down stock merchandise by identifying empty areas on shelves and replenishing supplies.
  • Process orders and deliveries accurately to ensure customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
  • Cross-functionally train in other areas of the store to enhance overall customer service.
  • Prepare merchandise in your department based on customer needs (e.g., tint and mix paint, cut and thread pipe, cut and bundle wood, cut drywall, cut blinds).
  • Guide customers through shopping or checkout processes.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6 Months Experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
  • 6 Months Experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and performing basic arithmetic (addition and subtraction).
  • Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties.
  • Minimally lift 25lbs unassisted or over 25lbs with or without an accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 months of Retail and/or customer service experience.
  • Bi-lingual skills.
  • Certification in a trade related to a department (e.g., hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, and lumber/building materials).

Travel Requirements

This role does not require regular travel; however, occasional travel to meetings, training, or to support neighboring stores may be necessary.

Working Conditions

Environmental factors vary by location. You may be working in both inside and outside weather conditions. Exposure to varying climates, including extreme heat or cold, wet, damp, humid, windy, or drafty conditions, is possible. You may be exposed to constant or intermittent noises in addition to moving or shaking objects and equipment.

Lifting methods vary based on role, weight, and volume. Associates must follow guidelines, limiting single lifts to 75 pounds. Team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed. Powered equipment should be used as required, with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.
