Job Description:

Title: Curriculum and Instruction Specialist (CIS)

Primary Purpose: To write and develop network-wide curriculum resources (unit plans, assessments, tools) for each grade level, aligning with Uplift’s Scope and Sequence. The CIS ensures these materials are culturally relevant, high-quality, rigorous, and aligned with the IB Programme Standards and Practices. The CIS also provides training and coaching, and receives input from campus leaders and teachers to improve the fidelity of implementation of the network’s curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

Curate materials to write curriculum.
Manage content visions and systems for supports for network-wide campus leaders to support teacher capacity building
Provide content specific professional development to school leaders (e.g., whole group, small group, one-on-one coaching) to further develop their instructional eye.
Analyze scholar assessment data (qualitative and quantitative) and share with school leaders to determine how to support in developing teachers, refining units of study, or define targeted intervention support.
Monitor curriculum implementation through cycles of campus observation and feedback (e.g., walkthroughs, school reviews).
Gather input on the curriculum from leaders, teachers, and peers to ensure alignment with IB Programme Standards and Practices and vertical alignment across grade bands.
• Provide coordinated support after strategy for addressing the needs of schools that require support to rapidly accelerate student outcomes.
Develop, update, and monitor curriculum courses on Schoology.
• Provide curricular leadership to school leaders by utilizing research-based teaching and learning practices.
Assist campus leaders in designing, preparing, and facilitating content specific professional development around instructional planning and IB Programme Standards and Practices

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
• Experience with curriculum writing and inquiry-based instruction required.
International Baccalaureate (IB) experience is a plus.
Minimum three years of Social Studies classroom teaching experience in a Middle School setting required.
• Formal school leadership experience is preferred but not required (e.g., Assistant Principal, Dean of Instruction).
• Leadership experiences providing teachers and leaders with content specific professional development required.
• Demonstrated and measurable student achievement in the content area on state, nationally norm- referenced tests, or college readiness exams (ACT, SAT, IB, AP, etc.)
• Ability to design high quality unit and lesson plans and assessments aligned to an objective
• Understanding of IB instructional and planning practices

Skills:

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Bilingual Skills: Spanish fluency is a plus.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn new software.
