About the Culinary Intern Position

Compass Corporate is seeking Culinary Interns to work closely with the leaders in the culinary group within their sector and account. The interns will develop skills and competencies to understand what is needed to be successful in the world of hospitality and culinary arts. They will gain valuable experience in various areas of culinary arts, including operations, reading and following standard recipes, sanitation and safety, guest services, problem resolution, menu planning and development, implementation of innovation, and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring safety (safe food in a safe environment)
• Assuring an exceptional guest experience
• Bringing innovation into services
• Managing financials
• Receiving, storing, and managing inventory
• Supporting associate learning and development
• Purchasing, producing, and executing menu items
• Providing operational support for serving platforms
• Understanding the safe operation of equipment
• Maintaining standards throughout the shift
• Ensuring uniform compliance
• Providing guest service
• Presenting and merchandising food

Requirements

• Interest in the hospitality and service industry
• Studies and an interest in culinary arts (culinary majors preferred)
• Attitude of a leader
• Enjoyment of inspiring others
• Good to better interpersonal skills
• General interest and knowledge
• Awareness of sustainability practices
• Interest in one or more of the following:
• Sustainability
• Culinary, baking, or pastry
• Carbon “foodprint”
• Farm to fork
• Quality assurance
