About the Job: CSS Student Office Assistant
This is an exciting opportunity for students seeking to gain valuable experience within the Center for Student Success (CSS). The role provides hands-on experience in key areas such as communications, content development, research, and campus collaboration, contributing directly to meaningful projects that shape CSS initiatives. Ideal candidates will have a foundational familiarity with the CSS, be comfortable engaging and collaborating with diverse individuals, and possess a basic understanding of effective research strategies. Key Responsibilities:
The Student Office Assistant position is housed within the Center for Student Success and requires 6-8 hours of work per week. Most shifts will involve information gathering, the development and implementation of external social media communications, and assistance with CSS special projects. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Information Gathering:
• Researching best practices and innovative ideas.
• Engaging with students to solicit feedback on CSS initiatives and ideas.
• Operations:
• Providing support with administrative tasks.
• Serving as the first point of contact at the front desk (e.g., checking in student appointments, providing lunch coverage).
• Assisting with the management of student-led events.
• Connecting students to CSS professional and student staff as needed.
• Communications:
• Collaborating with CSS staff to assist in communications content creation.
• Assisting with the delivery of social media content (e.g., generating ideas, conducting interviews).
• Creating and distributing marketing materials and flyers.
• Representing CSS:
• Planning tabling ideas based on CSS Student Learning Outcomes (considering location, topic, supplies needed, etc.).
• Tabling on behalf of CSS at planned locations or resource fairs.
• Gathering and picking up supplies and returning them to proper areas.
• Special Projects:
• Preparing materials and supplies for CSS events.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
• Completion of previous graphic design projects.
• Experience working in an office setting.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality.
• Comfortable meeting new people and presenting materials.
• Understanding and confident implementation of basic research strategies.
• Ability to work independently with an awareness to know when to seek guidance or assistance.
Compensation:
The compensation for this position is $11.00 per hour.
