Job Description: Crop Inputs Retail Summer Internship

This paid internship (minimum 16 weeks, May-August 2025) offers a valuable entry point into Cargill’s agricultural sector, providing exposure to retail sales, agronomy, and grain operations. Interns will gain practical experience across several key areas:

Agronomy: Learn to identify various crop issues including weeds, diseases, growth stages, plant populations, insect problems, nutrient deficiencies, and soil problems. You will assist the Agronomy and Sales team in planning and executing customer events and setting up demonstration trials. Training will be provided by an experienced Agronomist, with weekly meetings to discuss findings.

Operations/Grain: Gain hands-on experience with the daily operations of a grain elevator, including loading and unloading rail cars, grain movement, maintenance, and general duties.

Retail Sales: Assist with crop input retail activities such as receiving and shipping merchandise. You’ll become familiar with fertilizers and pesticides, learning to provide product recommendations and solutions to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities:

Interns will work alongside experienced professionals, receiving training and guidance while contributing meaningfully to daily operations. Specific tasks include, but aren’t limited to, field work, customer interaction, data analysis, and participation in company events. A company vehicle, cell phone, and other necessary technology will be provided.

Requirements:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma from an accredited program, graduating between December 2025 and August 2027.
• Ability to complete a 16-week internship (May-August 2025).
• Valid Canadian driver’s license in good standing.
• Ability to work in various outdoor conditions (sun, wind, rain, etc.).
• Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of independent work.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Agricultural Business, Agronomy, Plant Science, or Soil Science.
• Prior agriculture experience (sales, scouting, etc.).
• Geographic flexibility and willingness to relocate.
