Job Description: Crop Inputs Retail Summer Intern
The Crop Inputs Retail Summer Intern will gain exposure in retail sales, agronomy, operations, and grain. This internship is an excellent point of entry for development into other career opportunities.
Responsibilities:
• Agronomy:
• Identify weeds, crop diseases, stage growth, plant populations, insect problems, nutrient deficiencies, and soil problems.
• Plan and execute customer events with the Agronomy and Sales team.
• Assist with setting up customer demonstration trials.
• Operations/Grain:
• Learn about the operations of a grain elevator.
• Load and unload rail cars, move grain, perform maintenance, and carry out general day-to-day duties.
• Retail Sales:
• Assist with crop input retail activities, including receiving and shipping merchandise.
• Become familiar with fertilizers and pesticide products and services.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to meet customer needs.
Qualifications:
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma from an accredited program graduating between December 2024 and August 2026.
• Able to complete a 16-week internship from May to August 2024.
• Possess a valid Canadian driver’s license in good standing.
• Ability to work in environmental conditions with potential exposure to sun, wind, rain, pollen, dust, and insects.
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Comfortable working independently.
• Legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Agricultural Business, Agronomy, Plant Science, or Soils Science.
• Previous agriculture experience, sales experience, and/or scouting experience.
• Geographically flexible and willing to relocate.
