Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (CCAPP) Fellowship Program
The Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (CCAPP) Fellowship program at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) is an intensive 12-month training program designed to prepare Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) for a successful career in critical care medicine. Fellows will be fully integrated into the existing Advanced Practice Provider team, working closely with other APPs and Attending Physicians.
Program Overview
This fellowship provides hands-on clinical experience within DHMC, a quaternary care facility equipped with air and ground transport services. DHMC serves Northern New England’s most critically ill patients, offering a unique and challenging learning environment.
Upon successful completion of the program, fellows will be proficient in:
- Foundational knowledge: Managing complex, critically ill patients and making informed decisions.
- Interprofessional team management: Effective communication and collaboration within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Critical care bedside procedures: Performing essential procedures with proficiency.
The overarching goal of the program is to foster the acute and long-range medical and critical thinking skills necessary for a thriving career in critical care medicine.
Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Master’s Degree Physician Assistant Program or an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
- Certification: Must possess an active national certification from NCCPA (for PAs) or ANCC (for NPs).
- Licensure: Ability to obtain and maintain PA/APRN licensure in New Hampshire prior to the program start date.
- DEA Registration: Eligible to obtain Federal DEA Registration.
All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of the standard DHMC pre-employment criminal background check, health screening, and clinical credentialing process before matriculation.

Applications must include the following materials:
- CV/Resume: A current, up-to-date copy including school name and GPA. All work and education entries must include dates in MM/YY format.
- Personal Statement: A brief personal statement (500-1,000 words) describing your interest in pursuing a career in critical care medicine.
- Letters of Reference: Two letters of reference on letterhead.
- Letters can be addressed to the “Critical Care Medicine team.”
- If currently enrolled in a PA or NP program, one reference must be from your Program or Medical Director.
Note: All required materials must be received by the deadline to be considered for an initial virtual interview.
Anticipated Start Date: Fall 2026 (the exact date will be coordinated with selected candidates based on individual licensing and credentialing timelines).
