This is an Internship Opportunity within Wheeler’s AIC (Alternative in the Community) program.

Target Candidate:
• Criminal Justice major.
• Seeking a robust internship opportunity to complete an Undergraduate degree.

About the AIC Program (where the intern will work):
• Focus: Provides community-based intervention services for adults involved with the court or probation.
• Methodology: Uses a curriculum-driven, evidence-based model.
• Goal: Designed to assess the needs of each individual and reduce their involvement in the criminal justice system.
• Key Services Offered (and potential areas of intern involvement):
• Substance use intervention
• Trauma groups
• Skill building
• Employment Skills Group
• Case management
• Educational, basic needs and vocational supports
• Gender-responsive programming
• Service Areas: Adults in the program are served in New Britain, Bristol, Meriden, and Middletown.
• Client Referrals: Adults in this program are referred by the Office of Adult Probation, the court, or parole.
