COURT LAW CLERK | Clark County

The Tone:
This is a confidential, non-union position within the Justice Court – Las Vegas, a department of Clark County, Nevada. Clark County operates as a significant public service organization, providing essential judicial functions to its community. This role is crucial for supporting the court’s operations by providing judges with in-depth legal research and well-crafted legal documents, directly contributing to fair and efficient legal processes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Conduct Legal Research: Research applicable legal and factual issues at the judge’s direction, utilizing computerized tools and law library resources.
• Draft Legal Documents: Interpret and apply legal authorities to prepare briefs, pleadings, memoranda, opinions, and other specific case-related documents.
• Provide Procedural Guidance: Research and explain departmental, County, and State procedures to attorneys and departmental support staff.
• Enhance Team Efficiency: Contribute to the unit’s service effectiveness by actively participating as a work team member.
• Manage Records: Maintain accurate files and prepare various assigned records and reports.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (professional doctorate) degree.
• Experience: No specific years required; full-time experience performing legal research and/or writing legal opinions or documents is desirable.
• Skills: Legal research, legal writing, interpretation and application of laws and court decisions, document drafting, procedural explanation, record keeping, using standard office equipment and computers.
• Bonus: Full-time experience in performing legal research and/or writing legal opinions or documents.
