Count Team Attendant | Colonial Downs Group

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Rosie’s Gaming Emporium – Vinton, located in Vinton, VA. Colonial Downs Group, owned by Churchill Downs Incorporated, comprises Colonial Downs Racetrack, Rosie’s Gaming Emporium, Rosie’s Game Room, and Virginia Horseplay, fostering an inclusive and enjoyable work environment. This role is essential for the precise and accurate handling of cash and tickets from gaming devices, upholding strict compliance with company Internal Control Policies and Procedures, as well as all relevant state regulations, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity and trust in gaming operations.

• Mission: This person owns the accurate collection and counting of cash and tickets from gaming devices, ensuring strict regulatory compliance.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft applications, count room-specific computer applications, 10-key calculator, currency counter.

What You’ll Actually Do
Collection: Collects all gaming device drop boxes, including those from HRM machines, kiosks, and other sources, strictly adhering to the company’s Internal Control Policies and Procedures, as well as local and state regulations.
Counting: Records precise and accurate counts of cash and tickets from each collected box using the designated count system or manual sheet, ensuring data integrity.
Documentation: Prepares and meticulously maintains all necessary supporting paperwork required to reconcile and verify all counted money and tickets effectively.
Compliance: Ensures full compliance with all department and company policies, procedures, internal controls, and relevant government regulations, while upholding strict confidentiality standards.
Operations: Operates count machines according to established guidelines, performs minor repairs and routine maintenance on count room equipment, maintains the general upkeep and cleanliness of the count room, and assists team members in moving and safeguarding the box cart.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or equivalent is required, along with knowledge of internal controls, regulations, policies, and procedures pertinent to the Finance department. Must obtain and maintain a valid Virginia Racing Commission License.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are mentioned; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Skills: Strong foundational math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division); ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions and memos; problem-solving skills to define issues, collect data, and draw valid conclusions; basic computer literacy with Microsoft applications and aptitude for learning specialized count room software.
