Job Description

This is an unpaid internship position for students pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other closely related mental health disciplines. The internship is located at the Counseling Clinic – Fox Valley in Menasha.

Interns are considered vital to the organization’s success and are expected to make a meaningful impact on the community.

Key responsibilities and opportunities for interns include:

• Observing therapy sessions.
• Eventually facilitating therapy sessions with therapists.
• Providing in-depth professional evaluations and assessments of children, youth, adults, and families.
• Assisting with clinical duties such as filing paperwork, inputting ACORN data, and writing progress notes.
• Helping develop treatment plans with SMART goals.
• Other clinic duties may include researching community resources for clients and/or other therapists.
• Participating in trainings for professional and personal growth.

The internship offers a supportive and collaborative work environment where students can gain knowledge of community resources and fulfill required field placement hours for graduation in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

Education:
Required: Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or another closely related mental health discipline.

Skills and Competencies:
• Commitment to the ethical treatment of clients.
• Knowledge of family dynamics, abuse, neglect, criminality, and social dysfunction.
• Respect for families of diverse socio-economic status, race, ethnicity, and ability to engage them in dialogue regarding personal issues.
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships within and outside the agency in a professional manner.
• Ability to express and transmit ideas and knowledge clearly with reasonable organization and conciseness.
