Costume & Wardrobe Technician
Overview:
As a Costume & Wardrobe Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the magical appearance of our characters and productions. Your primary responsibility will be to build, maintain, and repair costumes and wardrobe items for a variety of characters, engaging events, and captivating productions. This dynamic role requires a blend of technical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to ensuring the highest standards of costume quality and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Costume Maintenance & Logistics:
- Routinely clean and dry worn costume pieces, ensuring they are properly sanitized and prepared for future use.
- Organize and store cleaned costumes in their designated locations at the end of each operational night.
- Oversee the efficient distribution of costumes to performers, facilitating a smooth and timely operation for all shows.
- Repair & Construction:
- Perform minor repairs on costumes as needed, demonstrating basic sewing skills to address wear and tear promptly.
- Operate both industrial and domestic sewing equipment with proficiency.
- Construct special costumes and unique wardrobe pieces as assigned by the Show Wardrobe Supervisor, contributing to new creative projects and character developments.
- Assist with minor sewing tasks to support ongoing wardrobe needs.
- Departmental Support & Development:
- Work collaboratively with Entertainment Management, seizing opportunities to assist and shadow in other facets of the Entertainment Department, broadening your skill set and understanding of operations.
- Contribute to the training of new personnel, sharing your knowledge and fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Safety & Environment:
- Maintain a consistently clean and safe atmosphere within all areas of Show Wardrobe. This includes, but is not limited to, regular sweeping, mopping, trash removal, cleaning restrooms, and organizing the storage/shop area.
- Navigate safely in, on, or around scenic elements associated with specific productions, often in potentially dark and restrictive spaces, ensuring personal and operational safety.
- Adhere strictly to and enforce all park policies and procedures as detailed in the Seasonal Handbook and the Department Standard Operating Procedure Manual.
- Immediately report any unsafe acts, conditions, or potential hazards to the Show Wardrobe Supervisor to ensure a secure working environment for everyone.
Qualifications:
- Age Requirement: Minimum age of 18 years.
- Availability: Must be able to work during afternoon/evening shifts, extending up to 90 minutes after park close.
- Essential Skills:
- Basic sewing, costuming, and laundry skills are required.
- Proficiency in operating industrial and domestic sewing equipment (as per responsibilities).
- Work Environment: Must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions when required for duties such as event support or outdoor costume maintenance.
