About the Role: Costume Production & Sustainment/Development Intern

Internship Duration & Location:

  • Approximate Dates: June 2026 to January 2027
  • Location: Orlando, FL

What You Will Be Doing (Responsibilities):

As a Costume Production & Sustainment and Costume Production & Development Costumer Intern, you will be instrumental in the full lifecycle of Character and entertainment costumes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking a designer’s renderings from concept to fruition for new Character and entertainment costumes.
  • Handling the replenishment and sustainment of existing costumes.
  • Sourcing fabrics and commodities.
  • Creating work orders and purchase orders.
  • Facilitating costume fittings.
  • Managing budgets for costume projects.
  • Working closely with vendors and various internal partners.
  • Troubleshooting challenges related to costumes.
  • Providing customer support to talent and operating partners.
  • Researching and facilitating the manufacturing of new and replacement Entertainment costumes, with a strong focus on sustainability.
  • Partnering with Entertainment and Costuming Operations to ensure consistent costume quality and design.
  • Coordinating fittings with Entertainment and Workroom personnel.
  • Interacting regularly with Entertainment Show Producers, Directors, Designers, and Entertainment and Costuming Operating Managers, as well as Safety partners.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in the Theater, Film, or Fashion Industry.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Computer proficiency in programs such as Excel, OneNote, PhotoShop, Illustrator, and Smartsheet, along with a willingness to learn new programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong partnering skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and vendors.

Education:

  • Currently enrolled as a Senior or graduate student.
  • Majoring in or previous coursework in:
    • Costuming
    • Entertainment Costume (theme park focus)
    • Apparel Design
    • Textiles
    • Fashion Merchandising
    • Fashion Design
    • Fine Arts
    • Or an equivalent field.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class at the time of application posting, OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization.
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program.
  • Be compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelines.
  • Be fully available Sunday through Saturday, for the duration of the internship, working 40 hours per week.
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work.
  • Possess a valid US driver’s license and have the ability to operate a company vehicle.
  • Able to maintain a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship.
  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in Florida.

Compensation:

  • The pay rate for this role in Orlando is $18.75 per hour.
