Entry Level Materials Estimator | Ascent Aerospace
The Tone:
This is an in-person role at Ascent Aerospace. Ascent Aerospace is a world-renowned, single-source provider of production and automated assembly systems for the aerospace and defense industry. This Entry Level Materials Estimator position computes cost estimates for raw materials and subcontracted work and labor. The role is critical for providing accurate cost data and assisting program management with project up-scope estimates, ensuring efficient and cost-effective solutions for customers.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Interpret Bills of Materials: Interpret the Bill of Materials from customer models, drawings, and specifications.
• Verify Pricing: Verify pricing and lead times from approved vendors for all material and purchased items (e.g., steel, aluminum, Invar, casters) from Bill of Materials, data, prints, and quote packages.
• Input Data: Enter pricing and pertinent information into the Quote Central system.
• Analyze with CATIA: Utilize CATIA to measure, hide, and show details to ensure all material and purchased items are accounted for in each quote.
• Collaborate and Clarify: Interact with customers, vendors, and internal teams for ongoing clarifications and updates.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum High School Diploma/GED, combined with demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing and machining processes, raw materials, and quality policies pertinent to aerospace production.
• Experience: 1-3 years of experience in an estimating capacity or equivalent relevant experience, including the ability to accurately interpret Bill of Materials requirements from customer models, drawings, and specifications.
• Skills: Proficient interpretation of Bill of Materials requirements from various sources; precise verification of vendor pricing and lead times; effective utilization of CATIA for material measurement and detail analysis; comprehensive understanding of manufacturing, machining processes, raw materials, and quality policies; adherence to Export Control Compliance requirements as a U.S. Person.
• Bonus: An Associate degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Industrial Management; prior experience in estimating, engineering, or building of aerospace tooling; or a willingness to pursue and maintain a Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance.
