Cost Accounting Intern | Teledyne Technologies Incorporated

The Tone:
This is an internship at Teledyne LeCroy, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, located in Chestnut Ridge, NY. Teledyne LeCroy designs, manufactures, and markets state-of-the-art electronic test and measurement equipment. Teledyne Technologies provides enabling technologies for industrial growth markets like aerospace and defense, factory automation, and medical imaging. This role offers hands-on experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, providing crucial support for inventory processes, financial reporting, and special projects to contribute to the company’s financial operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support inventory accounting: Assist with inventory analysis, reconciliations, and the preparation of supporting schedules.
• Monitor inventory control: Aid in cycle count reviews and investigations into inventory variances.
• Analyze manufacturing costs: Help investigate purchase price variances (PPV), work order variances, and overall manufacturing costs.
• Aid financial reporting: Support the preparation of monthly account reconciliations and journal entry support schedules.
• Maintain cost data: Assist with updating standard costs and product cost information within the ERP system.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
• Experience: No years of professional experience are explicitly required.
• Skills: Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements; proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with large data sets and maintain attention to detail.
• Bonus: Preferred academic standing as a rising Junior, Senior, or graduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Prior internship, coursework, or project experience related to accounting, finance, manufacturing, or supply chain is a plus. Interest in pursuing a career in Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Finance, or Corporate Accounting, along with curiosity about how products are designed, manufactured, and costed. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and exposure to ERP systems like SAP, are also beneficial.
