Job Description: Corporate Strategy & Development Internship
This internship offers a chance to contribute significantly to Thermo Fisher Scientific’s strategic and operational goals. Interns are assigned projects based on their skills and the company’s needs.
Responsibilities (Summer Projects may include):
• Supporting mergers and acquisitions (M&A) strategy objectives, including developing and tracking acquisition opportunities.
• Participating in teams evaluating M&A opportunities and leading divestitures.
• Performing acquisition valuation.
• Conducting industry and competitive research to support senior leaders.
• Analyzing industry dynamics and the competitive landscape.
• Analyzing company SEC filings, Wall Street research, and market reports.
• Supporting special projects related to the Corporate Development team’s goals and strategy.
• Conducting investment research, financial analysis, and modeling of potential investments.
• Developing assessments of innovative business plans for continuous improvement and investment proposals to determine business model viability, industry attractiveness, and strategic fit.
• Partnering with Strategic Capital leadership to prepare investment committee briefings.
• Building relationships within the venture and startup ecosystems to source investments.
• Developing strong relationships with relevant Thermo Fisher groups.
• Representing Thermo Fisher at venture, industry, and startup events.
• Supporting portfolio companies.
Start Date: May 12th or June 16th, 2025 (10-12 weeks, depending on student availability).
Compensation & Relocation: Hourly rate: $50.00 – $55.00 (depending on location and cost of living). Relocation stipend: $5,000 (if the student lives 50+ miles from the internship location).
Qualifications:
• MBA student completing a Business degree between December 2025 and June 2026.
• Previous work experience required – ideally in a large, global organization.
• Consistent track record of results demonstrating integrity, innovation, involvement, and intensity.
• Ability to champion change, drive results, and navigate ambiguity.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and high emotional intelligence.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. (F-1, J-1, H-1, OPT, and CPT visas are not accepted for this position).
