Tax & Accounting Internship | Greystar

This is a temporary internship role with Greystar, located in Charleston, SC. As the largest operator of apartments in the United States, managing over one million units globally, Greystar provides a significant opportunity for an intern to engage with real-world financial operations. This internship specifically supports the Corporate Accounting & Tax teams, providing direct exposure to the financial reporting, technical accounting, tax compliance, and investor reporting that are vital for a company managing nearly $79 billion of assets under management. It is designed to offer hands-on experience on real projects, contributing to the core financial functions of a global enterprise.

• Mission: Support Greystar’s Corporate Accounting and Tax teams by actively participating in real projects related to external reporting, technical accounting, tax compliance, and investor reporting, ensuring accurate financial and tax processes for its extensive global real estate operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting Support: Assist with quarterly financial reporting activities, including the preparation of financial statement disclosures.
• Accounting Research & Projects: Support accounting research initiatives, contribute to technical accounting projects, and aid in reporting processes.
• Tax Workpaper Preparation: Prepare workpapers and documentation necessary for supporting tax returns, audits, and compliance requirements for REITs.
• Investor Tax Documentation: Assist with the creation and distribution of investor tax documentation, such as Schedule K-1s and related communications.
• Information Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile accounting and tax tracking information to ensure accuracy and consistency.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; entry-level position.
• Experience: No specific years of prior experience are required for this internship; however, candidates must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, analytical skills, and clear written and verbal communication.
• Bonus: A curious, collaborative approach and an eagerness to learn.
