About the Job

The Corporate Accounting Analyst is responsible for providing professional accounting expertise to ensure that holding company, shared service, and intercompany transactions are analyzed, recorded, and reported accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

The company offers hybrid schedules (option of 2 days a week remote), excellent benefits, and “Dress for your Day,” which gives employees discretion to select appropriate attire depending on the business activities of each workday.

Essential Functions

• Reviews debt terms, invoices, and other documents to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
• Utilizes Excel to calculate amortization schedules, payment schedules, and accruals.
• Posts journal entries after determining compliance with GAAP, policies, and other requirements.
• Prepares variance and other analyses, making inferences about underlying transactions based on the series of debits and credits.
• Interacts with and prepares schedules for internal and external auditors and those responsible for SEC filings, rate cases, and regulatory filings.
• Supports journal entries, account reconciliations, analyses, and schedules with sufficient, relevant, well-organized documentation, including clear, accurate, meaningful text descriptions.
• Participates on cross functional project teams as the need arises related to the design, development, testing and implementation of automated systems, reengineering of processes, and/or implementation of new requirements.
• Assists with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance including control documentation.
• Develops and maintains strong working relationships with various areas of the Company.
• Learns, applies knowledge of, and advises others on processes, procedures, and accounting policies.
• Ensures proper retention of records.
• Other duties as assigned by Management.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, in either:
• Accounting
• Another business related area with at least twenty-seven (27) hours of upper-level accounting coursework
• Minimum of two (2) years of full-time accounting or financial experience.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
