Job Description: Cook Intern/ Teaching Kitchen

Starting Pay: $18.50 per hour

Summary:

This position involves preparing food in accordance with applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines and regulations, ensuring quality food service at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions, meeting production, delivery, and service schedules.
• Serve meals or prepare for delivery using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring food is at the correct temperature, attractive and tasty.
• Taste all prepared food items.
• Utilize established ticket collection procedures during service.
• Maintain records from the work area during service periods.
• Clean the kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Store or discard excess food according to safe food-handling procedures.
• Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat.
• Ensure food and supply items are stored per standards.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed.
• Assist with production planning, record keeping, and reporting as needed.
• Assist with ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required.
• Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Attend in-service and safety meetings.
• Maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
• Perform work safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
