This particular position is for a Cook Intern/Teaching Kitchen at the Santa Clara Convention Center. The role involves preparing food in accordance with federal, state, and corporate standards, ensuring quality food service at all times.
The Cook Intern will be responsible for:
• Preparing high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedules.
• Serving meals or preparing for delivery using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, and ensuring that food is at the correct temperature, attractive, and tasty.
• Tasting all prepared food items.
• Utilizing established ticket collection procedures during service.
• Maintaining records from the area worked during service periods.
• Cleaning the kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Storing or discarding excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.
• Keeping refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat.
• Ensuring food and supply items are stored per standards.
• Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment as instructed.
• Assisting in production planning, record keeping, and reporting as required.
• Assisting in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required.
• Reporting needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Attending in-service and safety meetings.
• Maintaining good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
• Performing the job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
