Controller / Accounting Manager | R. Mason & Co., LLC

The Tone:
This is a full-time or part-time role at R. Mason & Co., LLC, with hybrid options available in Central Virginia (Staunton – Shenandoah Valley) or Central North Carolina (Greensboro – Triad Region), or fully remote for those in the Eastern Time Zone. R. Mason & Co., founded in 2022, is a Fractional CFO and Business Consulting Firm led by two seasoned business executives with deep experience across varied industries. This position plays a central role in client engagements, interfacing regularly with clients and their staff to lead the development and maintenance of sound accounting practices, processes, and records.

• Mission: Lead efforts to develop and maintain sound accounting practices, processes, and records for client engagements
• Tech Stack: QuickBooks, ERP/Accounting systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), data analysis tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Oversee: Accounting transactions and processes, collaborating with client and contracted staff on daily accounting needs.
• Develop: Month-end closings, refining and completing them on a timely basis.
• Prepare: Rolling 13-week cash forecasts to provide financial insight.
• Assist: In the preparation of client budgets and forecasts.
• Contribute: To improving client business processes and overall financial strategy.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager. Degree in Business Administration or Accounting is preferred.
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience with similar responsibilities; proficiency in QuickBooks and/or other ERP/Accounting systems.
• Skills: Strong analytical and organization skills; ability to complete projects with speed and accuracy under short deadlines; effective communication and relationship-building.
• Bonus: Ability to think outside the box, take direction and feedback from Partners, learn new skills, and challenge oneself.
