Contracts Specialist | NBCUniversal
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at NBCUniversal, located in New York, NY, with a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of four days in the office per week. NBCUniversal is a leading global media and entertainment company, producing world-class content distributed across film, television, streaming, theme parks, and consumer products. This role supports the NBCUniversal News Group Legal team by providing essential contracts and legal operations support, enabling attorneys to efficiently manage a broad range of commercial agreements for NBC News, Telemundo Network, and NBC and Telemundo Local Stations. The position is critical for maintaining organized legal processes and ensuring timely service to the News Group businesses.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Provide day-to-day legal operations and administrative tasks for Commercial Transactions News Legal attorneys across the full contract lifecycle.
• Manage: Draft, review, revise, and manage commercial agreements and related documents independently using approved templates or in collaboration with attorneys.
• Coordinate: Oversee the team’s matter intake process, triage contract requests, and help attorneys prioritize matters for timely business service.
• Maintain: Keep the contract lifecycle management system and related records accurate by tracking key dates, deadlines, renewals, obligations, and status updates.
• Improve: Identify practical, business-oriented solutions to deal-related issues by utilizing contract management technology and legal operations developments, including AI.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate, with strong academic achievement, focused on contracts management, legal operations, or paralegal support.
• Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in an in-house legal department, law firm, or professional services environment; demonstrated experience supporting the drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial contracts; experience using contract lifecycle management tools, document management systems, or comparable legal operations platforms.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; comfort learning and using legal technology tools; familiarity with common commercial contract terms and workflows.
• Bonus: Experience in media, entertainment, technology, or other content-driven industries; solid analytical skills and sound judgment, including the ability to identify issues, escalate appropriately, and propose practical solutions; ability to work independently with appropriate guidance and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
