Contracts, Procurement and Supplier Diversity Intern Job Description

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in the world of contracts, procurement, and supplier diversity at Battelle. As an intern, you will play a vital role in supporting various aspects of the company’s procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

RFP/RFQ Analysis: You will analyze Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), obtaining and providing quotes and proposals for products and services in support of both new business proposals and ongoing projects.
Vendor Evaluation: You will review vendor proposals and quotes to ensure they are fair, reasonable, and compliant with Battelle’s procurement requirements.
Solicitation Support: You will contribute to the review of complex solicitations and help prepare responses to proposals, bids, and subcontract modifications.
Contract Negotiation: You will gain valuable experience in negotiating agreements of various levels of complexity, focusing on mitigating risks and maximizing profitability.
Procurement Record Management: You will be responsible for preparing, organizing, and maintaining accurate and audit-ready procurement records and file documentation.
Compliance: You will identify potential compliance issues and recommend solutions for approval by senior management.
Vendor Sourcing: You will recommend potential sources of supply to users and technical staff and make recommendations for vendor/order selection and order placement.
Policy Analysis: You will analyze procurement/contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions, and contract flow-downs to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and Battelle policies.
Business Team Collaboration: You will work closely with internal and external business teams to address issues and developments related to assigned procurements and contracts.
Compliance Review: You will assist senior staff in conducting compliance reviews, mock audits, and other regulatory and operational compliance reviews.

Qualifications:

Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
Experience: Sophomore standing or higher is required.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Teamwork: Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
Attitude: A positive attitude and willingness to take on challenges.
Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
