Paralegal | Sunoco LP
The Tone:
This is a corporate role at Sunoco LP, a leading energy infrastructure and fuel distribution master limited partnership. The company operates extensively across North America, the Greater Caribbean, and Europe, managing a vast network of pipelines, terminals, and distributing over 15 billion gallons of fuel annually. This role is crucial for ensuring all fuel supply contracts and negotiations with dealer customers adhere to established laws, regulations, and company policies, directly contributing to the company’s operational success and compliance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of critical documents including dealer and distributor contracts, amendments, terminations, deeds of trust, promissory notes, and other ancillary agreements.
• Legal Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all contract-related activities adhere to established laws, regulations, and company policies, maintaining strong professional knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and legal risks.
• Contract Lifecycle Administration: Manage the entire contract lifecycle, overseeing compliance with process metrics, resolving issues and escalations, and securing necessary approvals and signatures.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare essential legal correspondence such as violation and default notices, contract terminations, and renewals, while also generating monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports for various internal customers like Accounting and Executive Administration.
• Record Keeping & Research: Maintain proper filing of records for audit purposes, update the document repository with new or amended documents and data, and research and respond to both internal and external inquiries.
• Corporate & Dealer Support: Assist with corporate or dealer closings by drafting, reviewing, and notarizing documents, reviewing files, and answering questions, and collaborate on integrating newly acquired contracts and properties.
• Policy Development & Improvement: Understand and utilize existing contracting policies and procedures, actively contributing to the development of additional procedures to continuously improve the effectiveness of the contract function.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree is required, along with paralegal studies and/or a nationally recognized contract administration certification, or an equivalent degree demonstrating core domain knowledge in legal support and contract administration.
• Experience: Requires 1-4 years of experience operating in a contract management environment, handling the full lifecycle of agreements.
• Skills: Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with staff, management, customers, and vendors; demonstrate self-management capabilities and discretion with confidentiality; and exhibit strong interpersonal and teamwork skills for both independent and group work.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include prior experience within the wholesale fuel distribution business, transactional experience involving the review and preparation of real estate documents, closing instructions, and interaction with attorneys, title companies, and lenders, alongside lease administration experience. Strong PC skills, including proficiency in MS Office products and Salesforce, are highly valued, as are sound reasoning, multitasking abilities in high-pressure situations, organizational skills, and a Notary commission in Texas.
