About the Job

The Contact Payroll Assistant assists the Contact Manager in all aspects of the daily payroll function. This role is responsible for the completion of new employee profiles, payroll processing, benefits enrollments, and other essential clerical and accounting functions.

Salary: $21.00/hr

Major Responsibilities

  • Processes new employee files and records, submitting them to the Contract Manager for approval. Once approved, all appropriate paperwork is forwarded to the regional accounting office.
  • Calculates driver and staff payroll and accurately inputs payroll information into the computer for processing.
  • Maintains accurate attendance records for permanent part-time employees.
  • Manages and updates an accurate driver seniority list.
  • Answers the telephone and responds to customer inquiries.
  • Distributes mail, prepares overnight packages, and maintains an inventory of stamps and other mailing supplies.
  • Orders the location’s office supplies and manages inventory.
  • Assists the Contract Manager (CM) in accurately tracking overtime (OT) for the purpose of reducing or eliminating unnecessary and/or additional punch hours.
  • Verifies all standard hours against actual hours worked to reduce any additional driver hours.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education or Certifications Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience or Skills Required

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and is a self-starter.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with 10 Key, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors.
  • Ability to utilize standard office equipment.
  • Capability to access filing systems and cabinets.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone.
  • Work environment includes an office/school bus yard.
  • Possible on-the-road assignments.
