Job Description

This is an exciting 12-week summer internship program focused on Construction Project Management within Trane Technologies. The program is designed to provide participants with hands-on experience and insights into a career in construction project management, specifically within solutions that provide customers with energy-efficient buildings. Interns will be challenged to develop their technical, business, leadership, and communication skills while contributing to building efficiency and sustainability through Trane Technologies’ Equipment, Service, or Controls/Building Automation offerings. This internship also provides an opportunity to potentially join Trane Technologies’ industry-leading Graduate Training Program (GTP) after graduation.

Work Location:
This position is designated as a Hybrid work schedule, requiring work to be performed onsite 3 days each week. Note that while this specific posting details a hybrid role, some internship positions across Trane Technologies may be remote, or fully onsite at various facilities across North America.

What you will do:
As a Construction Project Manager Intern, you will have the opportunity to experience and assist in various aspects of project management, including:
Planning and coordinating assigned projects, establishing schedules, and setting procedures to achieve system objectives. This may involve generating tasks, estimates, dependencies, milestones, CPM Analysis, and Histogram Analysis.
Working directly with the engineering team to support engineering programming and material selection activities related to projects.
Assisting in establishing and maintaining an operations budget for assigned projects by revising the original estimate based on validated project scope and monitoring the accuracy of forecasted costs by managing expenses.
Collaborating on preparations for sub-contractor requests for quotations (RFQ), including developing scope statements, plans and milestone dates, specifications, bonding requirements, and billing schedules of values.
Receiving and qualifying subcontractor proposals, and with guidance, supervising the work of project-assigned staff, subcontractors, and installers.
Communicating with contractors, subcontractors, and owners to discuss project scope, budgets, performance, and close-out, as well as with other team members regarding problems, obstacles, issues, and information needs.

What You Will Bring:
To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Be actively enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree throughout the entire duration of the summer internship. A degree in Construction Engineering, Building Management, Construction Management, or an equivalent field is strongly preferred.
• Have completed at least their sophomore or 2nd year before the start of the summer internship.
• Possess knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods.
• Be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
• Possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, be able to provide proof of insurance, and have no major or frequent traffic violations within the previous 3 years (including DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple smaller infractions/preventable collisions).

Compensation:
The Pay Range for this role is $22.50 – $30.00 per hour. Total compensation may also include a commission/incentive plan. It is noted that this base pay range is based on US national averages, and actual base pay may vary based on seniority, merit, and the geographic location where the work is performed.
