Intern/co-op – Refining Construction Management (Spring 2027) | Marathon Petroleum Corporation
The Tone:
This is an Intern/co-op position at Marathon Petroleum Corporation, located primarily in Findlay, Ohio, with opportunities at other refinery locations. The TL;DR

• Pay: $28.62–$36.22 hourly
• Mission: To participate as an integral team member, applying construction management principles to various projects within facilities and making recommendations on project construction management activities.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Planning: Plan and schedule materials, labor, and equipment required for construction.
• Cost Management: Track and analyze project costs, comparing them against established control budgets.
• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to document control procedures and processes, preparing audit trail documents for major project decisions and risk mitigation efforts.
• Contractor Oversight: Monitor and report on contractor productivity, progress, and overall performance.
• Schedule Management: Prepare schedule updates and conduct critical path analysis to maintain project timelines.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program in Construction Management, Construction Science, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related discipline, demonstrating strong academic performance. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time, indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future, and maintain concurrent enrollment throughout the duration of the experience.
• Experience: No specific years of prior experience are required, as this is an entry-level intern/co-op position.
• Skills: Ability to apply principles learned in Construction Management/Project Controls classes to real-world projects. Proficiency in developing and utilizing project management skills, including scope, budget, and schedule development through construction and startup phases.
• Bonus: Availability for multiple work terms is preferred, and a valid driver’s license is required.
