Kiewit’s Southeast District stands as one of Kiewit’s leading infrastructure districts, specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. As an intern, projects you could be working on include critical infrastructure such as building bridges, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams, pump stations, or tunnels.
While most of our work is regionally based in the southeast region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the entire East Coast. We are actively looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and deeply committed to the construction industry, with a focus on implementation rather than design.

Key Responsibilities
As a Construction Management Intern, you will be involved in a variety of critical tasks, including:
- Field Engineering & Operations: Assisting with operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, and supervision of field activities.
- Technical Problem Solving: Performing engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handling minor technical problems arising during construction.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records regarding job progress, costs, and material usage.
- Planning & Scheduling: Participating in the planning and scheduling of specific job segments.
- Incident Investigation: Investigating problems and reported incidents, identifying and recommending appropriate solutions or alternatives.
- Plan Review & Analysis: Reviewing plans and specifications to determine precise material requirements (quantities and qualities) and pricing.
- Material Management: Supporting material procurement and working with suppliers to facilitate the handling and expediting of material deliveries.
- Contract Administration: Assisting with various aspects of contract administration.
- Estimating: Supporting efforts related to project estimating.
Qualifications
To be successful in this internship, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Mobility: Ability to travel or relocate as needed to various project sites.
- Availability: Ability to work full-time during the summer (approximately May-August).
- Education: Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Physical Demands: Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide range of climates and environments.
- Motivation: Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
