Conflicts Analyst | Ropes & Gray LLP
The Tone:
This is a full-time, non-exempt role with a non-traditional schedule, Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, located in a hybrid capacity across multiple U.S. cities. Ropes & Gray is a preeminent global law firm, comprising approximately 2,500 lawyers and professionals, consistently recognized for its leading practices across many areas. This role is vital to the firm’s critical risk management function, focusing on conflict of interest reporting related to new business intake and lateral personnel hiring within the Office of the General Counsel.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Corporate Research: Conduct comprehensive corporate research from multiple sources, then analyze and apply this knowledge to construct corporate trees based on departmental algorithms.
• Conflict Analysis: Review, analyze, and interpret complex search results as part of the conflict analysis and reporting process, ensuring adherence to the rules of professional conduct.
• Report Generation & Resolution: Generate conflict reports, follow up on outstanding requests, review report contents, provide analysis of relevant conflict issues, and identify means for their resolution.
• Attorney Communication: Communicate relevant substantive information and appropriate next steps to attorneys, including identifying the need for waivers and escalating complex issues as necessary.
• Documentation & Data Management: Assist with drafting and revising waiver language, request and record all necessary conflict resolution documentation, and maintain client and matter data in the Elite billing system.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, making this role suitable for individuals with core domain knowledge in a compliance, regulatory, financial, or legal environment.
• Experience: Prior experience in a legal conflicts environment is preferred. Database research experience with systems such as Lexis, Elite, LegalKey, Elegrity, Intapp, or iManage is also preferred.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality, exceptional customer service orientation, strong interpersonal skills, proficiency in PC and data entry, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective verbal and written communication skills. This role also requires the ability to interact effectively with colleagues, respond quickly to shifting demands, work under tight deadlines, handle multiple tasks, and contribute as a team member in a diverse environment.
