Job Description: Compliance Training Intern – Strategic Response Unit (SRU)
This internship is within IHDA’s Strategic Response Unit (SRU), which focuses on the Court-Based Rental Assistance Program (CBRAP) and planning future emergency housing programs. The intern will support the Compliance Team in several key areas:
• Application Review and Fraud Investigation: Assisting in reviewing applications for the CBRAP program, identifying discrepancies, and contributing to potential fraud investigations. This involves analyzing applicant information and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Preparing, analyzing, and organizing data in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.), generating reports, and working with team members to resolve data issues.
• Compliance Monitoring: Supporting compliance monitoring efforts by conducting research and data entry, and ensuring adherence to program guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Software Testing and Process Development: Contributing to the development of processes and testing of new software functionalities related to application review.
• Communication and Customer Service: Communicating (English and Spanish preferred) with applicants to obtain missing information or clarify application details.
• Training and Meeting Support: Participating in and potentially leading team meetings and training sessions; assisting with scheduling, agenda preparation, and minute-taking.
• Team Operations: Supporting the Compliance Team Leads in daily operations to maintain efficient workflows.
• External Engagement: Participating in IHDA and external partner meetings and seminars.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) is essential.
• Analytical thinking and attention to detail are critical.
• Experience or familiarity with government programs or regulatory environments is beneficial.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are highly desired.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively is required.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills are necessary.
• Adaptability to new software systems and quick learning are crucial.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
The internship is a paid, full-time, hybrid program running from June to August (approximately 10 weeks). It includes on-the-job training, workshops, a mentorship program, and intern social events. Applicants must be currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students.
