About the Job: Global Risk & Compliance (GRC) – Compliance

This role is within the Global Risk & Compliance (GRC) Organization, an independent risk management function led by the Chief Risk Officer. GRC’s primary objective is to ensure American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner, adhering to all applicable regulatory expectations. The organization is responsible for creating and maintaining the overall risk management framework, conducting independent risk assessments, and monitoring relevant risks. Colleagues in GRC are dedicated to fostering a culture of risk awareness and proactivity regarding regulatory matters, thereby driving the company’s goals of growth and progress.

Specifically, the position is within the Global Compliance & Ethics organization. This team plays a crucial role in safeguarding the company, its brand, and its colleagues by offering practical, solution-focused guidance on regulatory and ethics-related issues. Compliance officers collaborate closely with the General Counsel’s Office, various business units, staff groups, and risk professionals across the company. Their responsibilities include providing standards and guidance for the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive compliance programs, as well as promoting a robust risk management culture.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a Master’s/Juris Doctor degree program.
• Expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027.
• Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and attention to detail with excellent follow-up skills.
• Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Proven ability to translate highly technical and complex information into easily understandable terms.
• Superior Microsoft Office skills, with a strong emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong interest in compliance-related activities or prior experience in financial services.
• Demonstrated experience in building, sustaining, and leveraging relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 0-3 years of experience in Compliance or related activities within financial services.
• Understanding and knowledge of bank laws and regulations, relevant compliance requirements, U.S. Bank systems and processes, and related governance activities.
• Knowledge of relevant regulatory compliance requirements, preferably relating to regulated financial institutions and/or consumer products, AML (Anti-Money Laundering), Anti-Corruption, and BSA (Bank Secrecy Act).
• Experience with audit, compliance, risk, regulatory management, law, marketing and product management, finance, technologies, or control-related functions.
• Experience with data and quantitative analytics.

Salary and Benefits:
The expected salary range for this hourly position is $38.45 to $87.00, plus a sign-on bonus. Final pay will be determined by location, experience, and other job-related factors.
