Project 1: Community Relations Impact – Telling the Story of CR Impact at Arevon

This will be an intensive 8-week (approximately 2 months) project focused on “Visualizing Community Impact: ROI Storytelling for Renewables Development.” This project aims to empower our team to translate vital pre-permitting efforts, such as opposition mitigation and stakeholder buy-in, into clear, data-backed narratives that resonate effectively with Arevon leadership and other internal departments. The intern will undertake the following:

  • Build a Reusable Toolkit: Develop a standardized, reusable toolkit for tracking and reporting community impact.
  • Create Tailored “Story Decks”: Design presentation decks that articulate the Return on Investment (ROI) of Community Relations efforts. Examples include demonstrating “$X saved in project delays via 15% opposition reduction” or “Engaged with X stakeholders and secured X support for permitting hearings via XYZ initiatives.”
  • Quantify Standardization Gains: Highlight the benefits of standardization, such as faster permit approvals through template usage.
  • Make Abstract Value Tangible: Convert qualitative community engagement into quantifiable outcomes, making its value clear and measurable.
  • Support Quarterly Reporting: Ideally, contribute to the development of a framework for generating quarterly reports by feeding data into a centralized dashboard.

Timeline for Project 1:

  • Week 1-2: Understanding and Foundation
    • Conduct interviews with team members.
    • Perform comprehensive research and data auditing.

    • Develop narratives demonstrating how CR efforts saved time or resources (e.g., “X saved us Y dollars thanks to CR”).
  • Week 7-8: Presentation and Rollout
    • Develop a comprehensive presentation deck.
    • Establish baseline metrics sheets.
    • Prepare for internal “roadshow” or rollout to relevant teams.

Project 2: Revising Community Relations Checklist for Unsupported Projects (Non-Firm Supported)

This will be a focused 4-week project aimed at updating Arevon’s existing checklist of best practices and considerations for projects that are not supported by a public affairs firm. This initiative will provide a fresh perspective and enhance our best practices by leveraging:

  • The existing CR handbook.
  • Playbooks from current public affairs firm partners.
  • Internal data and insights gained from Arevon’s past experience.

This project may also include developing standardized plans for key community events such as open houses, groundbreakings, and ribbon cuttings, utilizing existing successful frameworks. (Note: Incorporating comprehensive event standardization could extend the project timeframe.)

    • Gain an in-depth understanding of Arevon’s business model and project types.
  • Week 2: Information Gathering and Interviews
    • Identify and gather useful information sources.
