About the Company
ABC11, also known as WTVD, is a television station in Durham, North Carolina, that is affiliated with the ABC network. It is the flagship station of the Capitol Broadcasting Company and serves the Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville Designated Market Area (DMA). ABC11 has a strong commitment to community engagement and produces a variety of initiatives and events that support the local community.
Job Description
The Community Engagement Intern will work with the ABC11 Community Engagement team to gain a general understanding of the many facets of community engagement within the fast-paced media industry. The intern will assist with a variety of projects, including:
• Attending community engagement meetings
• Assisting with the production of station campaigns and initiatives
• Assisting with studio and taped long-form productions
• Working on social media engagement and writing PSA and digital copy
• Interacting with ABC11 community and corporate partners
• Connecting with community-based non-profit organizations
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Curiosity about pursuing a career in television/multi-media
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Knowledge of long-form TV and video production
• Professional demeanor and strong work ethic
• Experience with MS Office Suite
• Outstanding phone etiquette and written and verbal communication skills
• Social media proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in community engagement, corporate citizenship, social responsibility, event planning, or social media/branding
• Major or coursework in communications, public relations, marketing, advertising, or business administration
• Proficient in Zoom meeting coordination
Eligibility Requirements
• Enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to the internship
• Graduated from a college/university within 6 months of the application posting
• Currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
• At least 18 years of age
• Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
• Possess unrestricted work authorization
