Project Development Coordinator for Legal | City of New York

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at the City of New York Parks & Recreation, located in Manhattan, NY. NYC Parks is offering a key opportunity within its Office of the General Counsel for a detail-oriented and organized individual. This role is crucial for managing special projects, ensuring efficient legal operations, and providing essential support to the General Counsel’s Office. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the smooth handling of various legal and administrative tasks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Management: Coordinate and manage special projects for the General Counsel’s Office with independent initiative and judgment.
• Legal Holds: Oversee a portfolio of evidence preservation and litigation hold requests received by the General Counsel’s Office.
• Claims Support: Provide assistance with tree damage restitution matters and claims.
• Information Requests: Process Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests accurately and efficiently.
• Legal Administration: Track the status of attorney assignments and prepare status reports, briefing memoranda, and other documents for legal leadership.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with two years of experience in community work or activities related to the duties described above, or a high school graduation with six years of equivalent experience.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to legal project coordination and administration.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; strong organizational and computer/database skills; excellent communication and customer service abilities; attention to detail with the capacity to multitask; and the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
• Bonus: Prior law office or enforcement experience is considered a plus.
