Job Description:
This posting describes an internship opportunity within the Community College Internship (CCI) program at PNNL. The CCI program is designed to encourage undergraduate students and recent graduates to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences at Department of Energy (DOE) laboratories.
Key details:
• Internship Focus: Performing research under the guidance of laboratory staff scientists or engineers on projects supporting the DOE mission.

• Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident at the time of application.
• Location: Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in eastern Washington State.
• Compensation: Hourly rate between USD $16.66/Hr. and USD $30.00/Hr., with the actual placement in the range determined based on job-related skills, qualifications, and experience.

• Security Requirements: New employees are required to obtain and maintain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential which requires passing a Federal Tier 1 background check investigation. Foreign Nationals might instead need a favorable Local Site Specific Only (LSSO) risk determination until they meet the residency requirement for a PIV credential.
• Mandatory Requirements: DOE prohibits employees and contractors from having any affiliation with the foreign government of a country DOE has identified as a “country of risk” without explicit approval.
