POSITION DETAILS:

Job Title: Communications Intern
Salary: $15/hour
Work Schedule: 15-hour work week.
• LPHI offers traditional (M-F, 8 am-5 pm), flexible (e.g., M-F 10 am-7 pm), and compressed (e.g., M-Th 8 am-7 pm) work schedules.
• Schedule details will be finalized between the employee and manager.
Location: This is a Louisiana-based, hybrid position.
Occasional travel (<10%) may be required.
• LPHI maintains an office in New Orleans for employees who prefer a hybrid or full-time in-office setup.
Employee must reside in Louisiana during the time of employment.
Team: Communications
Reports To: Communications Director and TFL Senior Communications Manager
Supervises: This is an intern position and does not involve supervisory duties.
Primary Relationships: The intern will primarily work with the Communications Director and TFL Senior Communications Manager.
Benefits: This is a non-benefit eligible position.

About The Position:

A successful candidate for this role will be someone who:

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
• Adding relevant content on all LPHI and TFL social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
• Adding videos to YouTube.
• Attending meetings, taking meeting minutes.
• Identifying and prioritizing items for attention.
• Documentation management.
• Program activity coordination.
• Participating in weekly meetings with the Communications Director and TFL Senior Communications Manager to discuss upcoming social media posts and future content.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities:

Interns will work directly with the Communications Team and gain experience by:
• Conducting research to develop social media content.
• Participating in internal and partner meetings.
• Regularly posting content and monitoring LPHI social media channels.
• Supporting the Communications Director and TFL Senior Communications Manager with any other assigned duties to assist with communications efforts.

About You:

Position Requirements:
University student studying public health or communications.
• Experience with research.
• Experience with social media posting.
Excellent written and oral communication.
Interest in public health, health systems, research, and/or public health communications.

Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities:
Strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Well-organized, self-directed, and able to complete multiple tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ability to learn new subject areas quickly.
Excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
• A commitment to actively working in alignment with the Communications Director and Senior Communications Manager.
• Ability to function independently and as a team member.
