About the Job: Commercial Property Underwriter Trainee
Golden Bear Insurance is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual for a full-time, entry-level Commercial Property Underwriter Trainee position. This role is ideal for those wanting to begin a career in commercial property underwriting within the dynamic E&S marketplace.
Responsibilities:
• Participate in a comprehensive training program encompassing classroom instruction, mentorship, and hands-on experience.
• Assist senior underwriters in analyzing new and renewal submissions for commercial property accounts.
• Learn to assess property exposures, including construction, protection, occupancy, and catastrophe modeling.
• Help gather underwriting information, calculate pricing, and prepare quote proposals.
• Develop a thorough understanding of E&S market dynamics and appetite.
• Build relationships with wholesale brokers and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate documentation within underwriting systems and files.
• Proactively complete assigned projects and training milestones.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (preferred in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field).
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills are required.
• Preferred Skills: Eagerness to learn, high attention to detail, a collaborative mindset, comfort working in a fast-paced environment with diverse risks, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Prior internship or exposure to commercial insurance or underwriting is a plus but not required.
Pay and Compensation:
• $55,000 – $75,000 + benefits
