Job Description (Detailed):

MPC offers several internship opportunities within its Commercial department, each with specific responsibilities and desired majors:

Scheduling: This role focuses on optimizing resource allocation and production schedules. Interns will schedule the delivery of light products, feedstocks, and biofuels via pipeline or waterborne transport to meet customer demand. Responsibilities include coordinating pipeline, barge, and/or tanker movements, monitoring inventories, adjusting shipping schedules, and developing improved scheduling methods to minimize costs and optimize resource utilization. Strong communication with various departments is crucial. Desired Majors: Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, or related fields.

Marketing (Corporate Office): Corporate office interns analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes to identify growth opportunities. They gather and interpret data, create reports, and assist in developing marketing strategies and campaigns. Exposure to various business units (Product Quality, Governmental Affairs, Business Development, Terminal, Transport & Rail) is included. Desired Majors: Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Finance, Business Analytics, or related fields.

Marketing (Field-based): Field interns work alongside Territory Managers, visiting customer offices and dealer gasoline locations. Responsibilities include assisting in prospecting for new customers and working on projects related to station financials and operations. Exposure to various Commercial and corporate components (Product Quality, Governmental Affairs, Business Development, Terminal, Transport & Rail) is offered. Desired Majors: Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Finance, Business Analytics, or related fields.

Analytics: This role involves collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data to identify trends and create actionable insights. Interns will create reports and dashboards, conduct data analysis, and support ongoing data projects. Support may be provided to various groups/commodities (Data Analytics & Strategy, Prediction & Optimization, Commercial Risk, Pricing, Renewables, etc.). Desired Majors: Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Business Analytics, Data Science, or related fields.

Coordinating: Organized and proactive interns will assist in managing operational and project-related tasks. Responsibilities include scheduling meetings, tracking project progress, preparing reports, and performing administrative tasks. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential. Desired Majors: Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Business Analytics, or related fields.

Systems Support: Interns will assist in maintaining and troubleshooting Commercial systems and applications, serving as a liaison between the Commercial organization and IT. They will work with tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Alteryx to improve user experience. Strong problem-solving and customer service skills are required. Desired Majors: Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Business Analytics, Data Science, or related fields.

Commercial Development: This role supports the identification and pursuit of new commercial opportunities. Interns conduct market research, competitive analysis, and assist in preparing proposals and presentations. They collaborate with senior team members on strategic planning. Strong analytical skills are essential. Desired Majors: Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Business Analytics, or related fields.

General Requirements for all Internship Roles:

• Strong academic performance
• Authorization to work in the US without visa sponsorship
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Availability to work 40 hours per week
