The Commercial Strategy organization within Disney Experiences focuses on leveraging data assets and applying quantitative techniques to gain insights about guests and the business. This team works directly with major decision-makers to shape the Walt Disney World experience and improve Disney products and offerings.

Job Description: Commercial Data Science Intern

This is a full-time, six-month internship (June 2025 – January 2026) in Orlando, FL. The role sits at the heart of major commercial decisions, allowing the intern to showcase data science and data engineering skills. The internship is designed for entry-level candidates with basic skills and a strong desire to learn in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

The intern will contribute to the team in several key areas:

Contributor: Develop data structures, documentation, and analysis to improve efficiency. Work on tools, processes, reporting, and documentation related to the commercial data ecosystem. Create data solutions, answer ad-hoc business questions, and address data concerns. Adhere to best practices (code reviews, automated testing, version control, CI/CD, configuration management, clear documentation). Support large data and analytic projects.
Collaborator: Build relationships with Data Product Managers, Data Architects, Data Engineers, data scientists, and data analysts. Design, implement, and deliver data solutions. Leverage knowledge of analytics and machine learning to develop impactful analytical products.
Learner: Understand business problems, data environments, and people. Learn about existing and emerging data engineering and analytical solutions, capabilities, and technologies, supporting and maintaining them. Gain an understanding of different teams, functions, and locations within the complex Disney operation.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience with SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation, engineering, or analysis.
• Familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases and data modeling techniques/standard methodologies and practices.
• Ability to follow existing programming and style guidelines.
• Ability to maintain documentation, procedures, and working instructions.
• Strong time-management skills and ability to prioritize multiple requests.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Machine Learning.
• Experience with ML Frameworks (TensorFlow, Spark MLlib, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Keras, etc.).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and big data technologies.
• Knowledge of industry-leading data and analytic tools (Snowflake, Git, Sagemaker, Dataiku, Tableau).

Education:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university and taking at least one class at the time of application, or currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
