This is an Commercial Construction Internship opportunity with United Contractor Services. The internship aims to provide a hands-on learning experience, enabling the intern to acquire practical knowledge and skills crucial for a career in commercial construction and project management.

What to Expect (Key Responsibilities and Learning Areas):

Administrative Support:
Documentation: Assisting with maintaining essential project documentation, including contracts, permits, and safety records.
Communication: Helping facilitate communication between subcontractors and other relevant parties, such as general contractors, suppliers, and clients.
Project Support:
Scheduling: Assisting in the creation and ongoing maintenance of project schedules.
Material Management: Supporting tasks related to ordering, tracking, and inventorying construction materials.
Quality Control: Participating in quality control checks specifically to ensure that drywall installation meets specified standards and requirements.
Fieldwork:
Site Visits: Regularly visiting construction sites to observe progress firsthand and understand the practical aspects of drywall installation.
Assisting Technicians: Providing direct support to experienced drywall installers with various tasks, including measuring, cutting, and installing drywall.
Safety Compliance: Ensuring adherence to safety regulations on the job site, which involves participating in safety meetings and inspections.
Learning and Development:
Training: Participating in structured training sessions designed to educate interns on drywall installation techniques, construction safety protocols, project management principles, and other relevant topics.
Mentorship: Working under the direct guidance of experienced professionals to gain practical insights and industry-specific knowledge.
Technical Tasks:
Blueprint Reading: Learning to effectively read and interpret construction blueprints and plans.
Estimating: Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment required for projects.
Software Use: Utilizing construction management software tools for various functions such as scheduling, budgeting, and comprehensive project tracking.
Problem-Solving:
Troubleshooting: Helping to identify and actively resolve issues that may arise during the construction process.
Coordination: Coordinating effectively with different trades and subcontractors to ensure a smooth workflow and adherence to project timelines.

Qualifications:

Current Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in a college/university pursuing a bachelors degree program in Construction Management.
Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Communication Skills: Demonstrates strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Efficiency: Ability to prioritize work effectively to maximize efficiency.
Valued Experience (Plus): Experience using PROCORE and/or Bluebeam software is considered a plus.
