Responsibilities
Our internship program is meticulously designed to mirror the career path of a full-time Financial Representative, offering a comprehensive learning experience:
- Learn sophisticated methods for prospecting and networking to build your own business and client base.
- Develop and meticulously execute a strategic business plan.
- Proactively call on potential clients and schedule meetings to thoroughly understand their financial aspirations.
- Prepare detailed financial plans and provide actionable, useful recommendations.
- Gain hands-on exposure to our proprietary financial planning software platforms.
- Participate in consistent weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.
- Obtain crucial Risk Product State Licensing for Life, Accident, and Health.

With the option to participate year-round, you can continuously grow your practice and receive dedicated support for advanced registrations and certifications such as the Series 6 & 63 or CFP®. Qualifications – Are You a Fit?
We’re looking for driven individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Full-time student; juniors and seniors are preferred.
- Possess strong entrepreneurial ambitions and a genuine curiosity for sales.
- Highly involved in campus life (e.g., leader, athlete, campus organizations, student government).
- Demonstrated excellent time-management skills.
- A keen interest in financial literacy and planning tools.

Salary Range
USD $500.00 – USD $1,000.00 /Yr.
(Note: This range typically represents a base stipend. The internship prominently features significant performance-based earnings, revenue opportunities, and Learning & Development Incentives up to $1000/month, which are in addition to commissions.)
1 Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representatives are Independent Contractors whose income is based on production. If offered to apply for approval of an intern contract to become a Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representative, a national criminal background check is required. Should the background check results provide information which would not allow someone to work for Northwestern Mutual, approval to contract will be withdrawn.
