Key Responsibilities
The internship program is structured to mirror the full-time Financial Representative career, offering a hands-on learning experience:
- Business Development: Learn and apply effective prospecting and networking strategies to build your personal business and client base.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive business strategy tailored to your growth objectives.
- Client Engagement: Initiate contact with potential clients, set meetings, and conduct in-depth discussions to understand their unique financial goals.
- Financial Recommendations: Prepare tailored financial plans and provide actionable, useful recommendations to help clients achieve their objectives.
- Proprietary Software Exposure: Gain practical experience with cutting-edge, proprietary financial planning software platforms.
- Ongoing Development: Participate in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings designed to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Licensing Acquisition: Obtain essential Risk Product State Licensing, including Life, Accident, and Health, crucial for a career in financial services.

Program Flexibility & Advancement
As a Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representative, you will enjoy a flexible schedule designed to seamlessly integrate with your academic life and personal commitments. The internship program offers year-round participation, allowing continuous growth in your practice and ongoing support for advanced registrations and certifications such as the Series 6 & 63 or the prestigious CFP®.

Eligible students demonstrating strong performance will have the opportunity to interview for a full-time Financial Representative or Advisor role upon graduation.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Academic Status: Currently enrolled as a full-time student; juniors and seniors are preferred.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: Possess strong entrepreneurial ambitions and a genuine curiosity for sales.
- Campus Involvement: Highly involved in campus activities, demonstrating leadership (e.g., leader, athlete, campus organizations, student government).
- Time Management: Exhibit excellent and proven time-management skills.
- Financial Interest: A keen interest in financial literacy and the application of planning tools.
- Business Acumen: Demonstrate business savvy and a strong desire to enhance critical thinking abilities.

- Registration Support: Support for SIE, Series 6, and Series 63 registrations (eligibility required).
Salary Range: USD $500.00 – USD $1,000.00 /Yr.

If offered to apply for approval of an intern contract to become a Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representative, a national criminal background check is required. Should the background check results provide information which would not allow someone to work for Northwestern Mutual, approval to contract will be withdrawn.
