College Financial Representative Internship Program

Key Responsibilities
Our internship program closely mirrors the responsibilities of a full-time Financial Representative, allowing you to:
Learn and implement prospecting and networking strategies to build your business and client base.
Develop and execute a strategic business plan.
Initiate contact with potential clients and schedule meetings to understand their financial goals.
Prepare personalized financial plans and offer useful recommendations.
Gain hands-on experience with proprietary planning software platforms.
Engage in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings to continuously enhance your skills.
Obtain essential Risk Product State Licensing, including Life, Accident, and Health.
Develop valuable life skills that will create future career opportunities.

Qualifications

Full-time student status, with a preference for juniors and seniors.

High involvement on campus (e.g., leadership roles, athletic participation, campus organizations, student government).

• A strong interest in financial literacy and planning tools.

Compensation & Benefits
Interns in this program will receive:
Performance-based earnings and revenue, directly tied to your production.
Learning and Development Incentives of up to $1,000/month (not inclusive of earned commissions).
Productivity Bonuses to reward high achievement.
Financial support for insurance licensing (Life, Health, Disability Income, Long-Term Care).
Support for SIE, Series 6, and Series 63 registrations (eligibility required).

Important Note on Employment Status
Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representatives are considered independent contractors for income tax purposes and a “statutory employee” for Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) tax purposes. Income is based on production. Should an offer to apply for approval of an intern contract be extended, a national criminal background check is required. Approval to contract will be withdrawn if background check results provide information that would prevent employment with Northwestern Mutual.

Salary Range
USD $500.00 – USD $1,000.00 /Yr.
