  • Learning how to prospect and network effectively to build a business and client base.
  • Developing and executing a personal business strategy.
  • Calling on potential clients and setting meetings to understand their unique financial goals.
  • Preparing tailored financial plans and offering useful recommendations.
  • Gaining exposure to proprietary planning software platforms.
  • Engaging in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.
  • Receiving support to obtain Risk Product State Licensing: Life, Accident, and Health.
  • Building essential life skills that create future career opportunities.

As a Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representative, you can expect a flexible schedule designed to accommodate your academic life. The internship can be year-round, allowing for continuous growth and support for registrations and certifications such as the Series 6 & 63 or CFP®. Interns can also participate in local and national recognition events, gain access to leadership programs, and collaborate with industry experts. Eligible students may also have the opportunity to interview for a full-time Financial Representative or Advisor role upon graduation.

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student, with juniors and seniors preferred.
  • Possessing entrepreneurial ambitions and a genuine curiosity for sales.

  • An interest in financial literacy and planning tools.

Should an intern apply for approval to become a College Financial Representative, a national criminal background check is required.
