Responsibilities

Our internship program closely mirrors the experience of a full-time Financial Representative, allowing you to:

  • Learn effective strategies for prospecting and networking to build your business and client base.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business strategy.
  • Proactively engage with potential clients to set meetings and understand their financial goals.
  • Prepare tailored financial plans and provide useful recommendations.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to proprietary financial planning software platforms.
  • Participate in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.
  • Obtain Risk Product State Licensing: Life, Accident, and Health.
  • Develop essential life skills that will open doors to future career opportunities.

Qualifications

Are you a fit for this internship? We are looking for candidates who are:

  • A full-time student; juniors and seniors are preferred.
  • Possessing entrepreneurial ambitions and a genuine curiosity for sales.
  • Highly involved on campus (e.g., leader, athlete, campus organizations, student government).
  • Demonstrating excellent time-management skills.
  • Showing a strong interest in financial literacy and planning tools.
  • Business savvy with a desire to increase critical thinking abilities.

Compensation & Benefits

1 Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representatives are Independent Contractors whose income is based on production. If offered to apply for approval of an intern contract to become a Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representative, a national criminal background check is required. Should the background check results provide information which would not allow someone to work for Northwestern Mutual, approval to contract will be withdrawn.
